SEC Director General will discuss the role of capital markets in wealth creation at the summit
The Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, will chair the 13th Annual Conference of the Institute of Capital Market Registrars scheduled for November 9, 2024.
This is contained in a statement signed by the President/Chairman of the Council, Mr. Oluseyi Owoturo, in Lagos on Saturday.
Owoturo said Agama, the keynote speaker, would speak on the theme of the conference: “Improving Financial Stability in the Nigerian Economy: Strategic Role of Capital Market in Wealth Creation.”
According to Owoturo, the event will also feature economist and Chief Executive Officer of Economic Associates, Dr. Ayodele Teriba, who will speak on the topic “Balancing Innovation and Regulation for Financial Stability in the Age of Market Transformation” and the Chief Executive Officer of Economic Associates, Jude Chiemeka, Executive Officer of Nigerian Exchange Limited, will speak on the topic “Restoring Confidence in the capital market: The strategic role of registrars”.
He said that the need for a comprehensive assessment of the current national economic landscape, identifying key challenges to financial stability and proposing policy recommendations and actionable policy measures to improve financial stability would form the key objectives of the ICMR conference and fellows‘ investiture.
He added that the conference will highlight the importance of the capital market in providing funds to businesses and government.
He noted that funding is critical for innovation, job creation and economic development.
“The final highlight of the day will be the investiture of the fellows and the induction ceremony of new members,” he said.
